John Katko (NY-24), Ranking Member on the House Committee on Homeland Security, today led Homeland Security Committee Republicans in an effort urging the Biden Administration to reconsider lifting sanctions on Iran. This effort follows recent reporting that the Biden Administration has offered sanctions relief to Iran to broker a nuclear deal. For months, Rep. Katko and Homeland Republicans have warned of the irreversible impact this action could have on our homeland and national security.

This legislation protects animals victimized by fighting rings and transfers the cost of care from taxpayers to those responsible for harming these animals. Rep. Resident Physician Shortage Reduction Act of 2021 would phase in 14,000 new residency slots

SYRACUSE, NY— U.S. Rep. John Katko (R, NY-24) today announced he reintroduced legislation that would take critical steps towards reducing physician shortages in Central New York and nationwide by boosting the number of Medicare-supported residency positions. The Resident Physician Shortage Act of 2021 would support an additional 2,000 positions each year from 2023 to 2029, for a total of 14,000 residency positions. Rep. Katko introduced this bill alongside U.S. Reps. Terri Sewell (D, AL-7), Tom Suozzi (D, NY-03), and Rodney Davis (R, IL-13).

WASHINGTON— In response to the ongoing crisis at the southwest border, U.S. Rep. John Katko (R, NY-24), lead Republican of the House Committee on Homeland Security, and U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar (D, TX-28), Vice Chair of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Homeland Security, introduced the Border Surge Response and Resilience Act, which would require DHS and federal partners to establish a plan to address migrant surges at the border with transparent metrics in place to activate access to supplemental funds.

John Katko (NY-24) today announced he spoke directly with the District Commander for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District, to request updates on local water infrastructure projects and discuss the implementation of the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) of 2020, a bipartisan bill he worked across the aisle to develop on the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure and supported passage of in the House. Locally, the Buffalo District is tasked with planning, designing, and building public projects that aim to energize the economy and mitigate the risk of flooding and other disasters.

SYRACUSE, NY— U.S. Rep. John Katko (NY-24) today announced he reintroduced the bipartisan Family Violence Prevention and Services Improvement Act (FVPSA). The bill will reauthorize and expand funding for programs focused on protecting survivors and preventing family and domestic violence, and is the only federal funding source under the Department of Health and Human Services dedicated to providing domestic violence prevention services. Rep. Katko reintroduced the bill alongside U.S. Reps. Lucy McBath (D, GA-06), Gwen Moore (D, WI-04), and Don Young (R-AK-At Large).

SYRACUSE, NY— U.S. Rep. John Katko (NY-24) today announced his office is now accepting entries from high school students residing in New York’s 24th Congressional District for the annual Artistic Discovery Congressional Art Competition. This nationwide competition is sponsored by Members of the U.S. House of Representatives and gives young artists the opportunity to showcase their talent. Winning pieces from each Congressional District are displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year.
