OSWEGO, NEW YORK – U.S. Rep. John Katko (NY-24) today announced that, following his advocacy, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will begin a feasibility study on deepening the Port of Oswego.
The Port of Oswego is the only deep water port on the U.S. shores of Lake Ontario, and a critical asset for attracting new economic growth opportunities in Oswego County and across Central New York.

John Katko (NY-24) today announced several key wins for Central New York in the Conference Report to National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2020, which he helped negotiate. The NDAA authorizes the budget and expenditures for the U.S. Department of Defense, and, critical to Central New York, authorizes funding for Fort Drum, the 174th Attack Wing, Rome Labs, and projects manufactured by several local companies.
WASHINGTON, D.C.— Last night, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Coastal and Great Lakes Community Enhancement Act, bipartisan legislation which includes two key provisions authored by U.S. Rep. John Katko (NY-24) to address harmful algal blooms and water levels along Lake Ontario.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Lawmakers from both houses of Congress today introduced a new framework to fight the rapid spread of deadly synthetic drugs, which can quickly be re-engineered to circumvent federal laws designed to outlaw them. The Stop Importation and Manufacturing of Synthetic Analogues (SIMSA) Act, introduced by U.S. Representatives John Katko (NY-24) and Kathleen Rice (NY-4) along with Senators Chuck Grassley (IA), Joni Ernst (IA), and Dianne Feinstein (CA), would allow substances substantially similar to controlled drugs to temporarily regulated while more time-consuming testing, research and analysis can be performed.
