WASHINGTON – U.S. Rep. John Katko (NY-24) and members of the Republican Governance Group, a caucus comprised of Congressional Republicans committed to effective governing, today urged the Biden Administration to work with lawmakers from both parties to negotiate and advance the next round of COVID-19 relief. This effort comes after the House of Representatives moved tonight to initiate a process to pass stimulus legislation on a strictly partisan basis. Rep. WASHINGTON— U.S. Rep. John Katko (NY-24), Ranking Member on the House Committee on Homeland Security, today demanded answers from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security around its plan to distribute its limited supply of taxpayer-procured COVID-19 vaccines.  With significant concern around the handling of vaccination allotments, Rep. Katko seeks to ensure foreign nationals in DHS custody are not prioritized ahead of our frontline law enforcement tasked with securing the border and enforcing immigration laws that are critical to national security.

WASHINGTON— U.S. Rep. John Katko (NY-24) today announced that he spoke directly with senior officials from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), and the Department of Defense (DoD) to discuss accelerating Central New York’s COVID-19 vaccine distribution effort. These agencies are tasked with coordinating with suppliers to procure, allocate, and distribute vaccines to states. Rep. Katko’s call comes one week after  a virtual roundtable with local hospital administrators in which they expressed challenges with acquiring and distributing vaccinations.

WASHINGTON –  U.S. Rep. John Katko (R, NY-24) today announced the introduction of legislation requiring the Secretary of the Treasury to place the likeness of Harriet Tubman on the $20 Federal Reserve note. This announcement comes as the Biden Administration has indicated support for moving forward on this bipartisan effort, which Rep. Katko long championed alongside the late Congressman Elijah Cummings. Rep. Katko was joined in introducing this bill, The Women on the Twenty Act of 2021, by Rep. Joyce Beatty (D, OH-3).

SYRACUSE, NY— In a virtual roundtable hosted by the Healthcare Association of New York State, U.S. Rep. John Katko (NY-24) today joined hospitals from across Central New York to discuss local COVID-19 vaccine distribution and supply issues. Rep. Katko was joined by representatives from SUNY Upstate Medical University, Crouse Hospital, St. Joseph’s Health, Oswego Health, and Newark-Wayne Community Hospital.

SYRACUSE, NY— U.S. Rep. John Katko (NY-24) today announced $70,000 in federal funding has been awarded to the Central New York Regional Planning and Development Board. The Board is a public agency that sponsors a wide range of projects that help grow and develop communities in Central New York.

These funds are available through the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA). With these funds, the Central New York Regional Planning and Development Board will work to attract private capital investment and spur job creation in Central New York.

WASHINGTON – U.S. Rep. John Katko (NY-24), Ranking Member on the House Committee on Homeland Security, today reintroduced the Trusted Traveler Reconsideration and Restoration Act. This bill provides relief for individuals who have had their Trusted Traveler Program status erroneously revoked or suspended due to an error committed by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Rep. Katko introduced this bipartisan bill alongside Elissa Slotkin (D, MI-8) and Bonnie Watson Colemnan (D, NJ-10).

SYRACUSE, NY— U.S. Rep. John Katko (NY-24) today announced $133,563 in federal funding for Onondaga Council on Alcoholism & Addictions, Inc., a provider of addiction and recovery services in Central New York.

The funding is available through Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Drug Free Communities (DFC) Support Program, a program that provides funding to community-based organizations that work to address youth substance use. This new award provides Onondaga Council on Alcoholism & Addictions, Inc. with the necessary funds to continue offering youth substance abuse prevention programming for the next five years.
