SYRACUSE, NY — Following a year of historic water levels across the Great Lakes, U.S. Reps. John Katko (NY-24), Anthony Brindisi (NY-22)Joseph Morelle (NY-25), and Chris Jacobs (NY-27) today sent a bipartisan letter to Jane Corwin, Chair and Commissioner of the U.S. Section, International Joint Commission (IJC), and Pierre Beland, Chair and Commissioner of the Canadian Section, IJC, requesting the IJC present a strategy to mitigate the threat of coastal flooding along Lake Ontario’s southern shore in 2021.

SYRACUSE, NY— U.S. Rep. John Katko (NY-24) today announced $15,011,000 in federal funds will be distributed to the Town of Scriba to support rural development projects.

The funds are available through the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development’s Water and Waste Disposal Loan and Grant Program, which delivers loans and grant funding to local governments to help upgrade water and waste infrastructure in order to deliver safe drinking water and modern wastewater management facilities to rural areas.  In Congress, Rep. Katko advocated for robust support for USDA Rural Development, including an increase in federal funding for the Water and Waste Disposal Loan and Grant Program in Fiscal Year 2021.

SYRACUSE, NY — U.S. Rep. John Katko (R, NY-24) today announced the introduction of the Promoting Careers in Aviation for America’s Veterans Act of 2020. Inspired by William Becker, a Baldwinsville resident and Korean War Veteran, this bipartisan legislation would provide relief to veterans who were retroactively denied tax benefits and forced to pay back taxes as a result of changing guidance from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Rep. Katko was joined by U.S. Rep. Anthony Brindisi (D, NY-22) in introducing this measure, which also includes important provisions to increase the accessibility of aviation careers for Central New York veterans.

WASHINGTON, DC— U.S. Rep. John Katko (NY-24) today spoke on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives to honor the life of Dr. Adeline Fagan. A Central New York native, Dr. Fagan passed away on September 19, 2020 after contracting COVID-19.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Rep. John Katko (NY-24) today announced the passage of the TSA Workplace Improvement Act of 2020. This bipartisan legislation provides Transportation Security Administration (TSA) employees with 12 weeks of paid parental leave and ensures access to facilities for nursing.

“No mother or father should have to choose between their job and being a parent,” said Rep. Katko. “That’s why, in Congress I’ve proudly led efforts to support working parents, including policies that ensure access to paid parental leave and necessary protections for pregnant workers."

WASHINGTON, DC— U.S. Rep. John Katko (R, NY-24) today announced the House of Representatives passed the State and Local Cybersecurity Improvement Act, legislation he introduced after the Syracuse City School District and Onondaga County Public Library System fell victim to major ransomware attacks. The attacks resulted in computer outages, and cost the Syracuse City School District thousands of dollars to restore the networks.
