John Katko (NY-24) today announced the passage of the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act, bipartisan legislation he introduced last year to protect pregnant workers from workplace discrimination. The passage of Rep. Katko’s bill comes as Congressional Leaders continue to prioritize partisan posturing over legislative progress.

Earlier today, Rep. Katko spoke on the House floor urging his colleagues to vote in support of his bipartisan measure.

SYRACUSE, NY— U.S. Rep. John Katko (NY-24) today announced $324,917 in federal funds from the Department of Justice’s Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office) will be distributed to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department as part of the COPS School Violence Prevention Program.

Administered under the STOP School Violence Act of 2018, this program provides local law enforcement agencies with funding to train officers to respond to and prevent student violence, implement evidence-based school safety programs, purchase technology that expedites the notification of first responders during an emergency, and other measures that provide a significant improvement in school security.

Katko: Bill Ensures Everyday Americans Have the Tools & Knowledge to Protect Against Cyberattacks

SYRACUSE, NY— U.S. Rep. John Katko (NY-24), Ranking Member on the Cybersecurity, Infrastructure Protection & Innovation Subcommittee, today introduced the Cyber Essentials Act, bipartisan legislation to help equip the general public, as well as businesses and governments, with the necessary tools and guidance to protect against cyber threats. Rep. Katko introduced this measure alongside U.S. Reps. Kathleen Rice (D, NY-4), Jim Langevin (D, RI-2), Anna Eshoo (D, CA-18), and Mike Gallagher (R, WI-8).

John Katko (NY-24) today announced $1,000,000 in federal funds will be distributed to Sodus Central School District and Cayuga/Seneca Community Action Agency to support survivors of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking. The funds are available through the Children and Youth Program and Transitional Housing Assistance Program administered by the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) Office on Violence Against Women.

John Katko (NY-24), today announced $1.2 million in funding from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) has been awarded to the Central New York Regional Planning and Development Board to support local small businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Board is a public agency that sponsors a wide range of projects that help grow and develop communities in Central New York. In Congress, Rep. Katko serves as Ranking Member of the House Subcommittee on Economic Development, Public Buildings, and Emergency Management. This subcommittee has jurisdiction over agencies and programs dedicated to promoting economic development in communities suffering economic distress, including the EDA.
